The Jade Plant
Crassula ovataThe Jade Plant is a timeless succulent for beginners, revered in many cultures as the "Money Tree" or "Friendship Tree" to symbolize prosperity. Its thick, woody stems and fleshy, oval leaves give it a miniature tree-like appearance, making it a favorite for minimalist desk decor and bright windowsills. As a succulent, it is exceptionally efficient at carbon dioxide absorption during the night, improving air quality while you sleep.
The Living Heirloom
With the right care, a Jade Plant can thrive for over 50 years. The secret to its longevity is well-draining succulent mix and avoiding overwatering, which can lead to root rot. It thrives in bright direct sunlight; in fact, high light levels often reward the grower with a beautiful red tint on the leaf edges. Note that while stunning, Jade is toxic to dogs and cats.
